For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. – 2 Corinthians 10:12
God makes each one of us unique, and that uniqueness is what makes us special! We can be unwise and prevent ourselves from growing when we look at others and wish we had what they have. We may desire such things as talent, strength, personality, appearance, and the list continues! God never commanded us to be as good as someone else; He only wants OUR best!
Most of the time comparison causes insecurities, but on the flip side it also can cause pride and discouragement when we compare ourselves to people who we think are “lesser” than us. We hurt ourselves and our ministries when we begin to think, “Well no one does as much as I do,” or “No one puts in as much effort as I do.”
Just be the best that YOU can be, and do the best with what God gave YOU!
