Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. – Psalm 62:8
What is the first thing that comes to mind when we think of trusting? I think of floating in a pool. We must be completely relaxed to float on top of the water. Tensing up in any way will result in sinking! I also think of sitting in a chair or on a couch. We just sit, right? We probably do not even think about it, and we trust that the chair will hold us without collapsing.
A dictionary definition of trust is “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” Is this not how we should trust our Heavenly Father? When life is throwing us lemons left and right and we just cannot seem to catch our breath, God is right there. He is there to hold us up so we do not sink or fall.
Psalm 19:14 says, Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. “What you think about comes about.” This is a quote that we all have heard. If we meditate on God’s Word and focus on Him, He will show and give us the strength we need for every day. Let us fill our minds with God’s Word and trust Him in everything! Psalm 34:8 reminds us perfectly, O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
