How to Have a Perfect Day

Unfortunately, we cannot control the circumstances of each day. Things often happen in a day that we do not expect. Some of those things are good, and some are not so good. I am happy to report that we can have a perfect day in spite of the circumstances. Here are a few tips to achieve a perfect day.

  1. We should give ourselves and our day to the Lord first, then we can know that anything that comes our way is of Him.

…that in all things he might have the preeminence. – Colossians 1:18

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

  1. We should realize that we cannot determine the circumstances of the day, but we can determine our attitudes toward those circumstances.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – I Thessalonians 5:18

Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? – James 3:11

It is difficult to be thankful and angry at the same time.

  1. We can turn our stumbling blocks into stepping-stones. When things do not go as expected, we should ask the Lord, “What is it that You are trying to teach me?” We also should ask ourselves what we can learn from the situation. We can take the opportunity to grow, to be an example to others, and to draw closer to the Lord.

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. – Romans 5:3-5

  1. We should pray about everything. It has been said that a day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. – Philippians 4:6

  1. We should focus our thoughts.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8

  1. We should refuse to hold onto common excuses for failure. It is easy to make excuses to justify our bad attitudes, inappropriate responses, etc. My pastor always says, “An excuse measures zero meters.”

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. – I Corinthians 10:13

It may be tempting to react to the circumstances, but we must remember that there is no excuse for bad behavior. We will give an account of our actions!

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. – Romans 14:12

Every day that we are given is a blessing from God. Living each day is a privilege that is not guaranteed to everyone, so we must make the most of it. We all can have the perfect day!

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalm 118:24
